Named as Keoladeo Ghana national park it is world known as bird sanctuary with hundreds of rare and endangered birds species congregating in just 26 sq km of area. It is also a declared World Heritage Site. The sanctuary hosts large number of the rare Siberian Cranes.More than 350 species are found here. Chilika lake in Orissa has been designated as a 'Ramsar Site'.The Nalaban Island within the lagoon is notified as a Bird Sanctuary by the government of India. Chilika supports the largest congregation of migratory birds in the country during winter which may be upto 200 species. Chambal sanctuary inRajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. This sanctuary has a checklist of over 246 species of birds. Corbett National Park is located near Nainital in the state of Uttarakhand. The Corbett National Park and the adjoining Sonanadi Sanctuary form the Corbett Tiger Reserve.Famous for tigers but surprisingly it has 580 species of birds. Dachigam national park is jjust 22 km from Srinagar in J& K, India.One can see rare birds like tragopan, monal etc. Desert National Park is situated in Rajasthan in the Thar desert.This parks covers an area of 3162 sq. km.One can see rare great indian bustard here besides damoiselle cranes. Eravikulam National Park in Kerala is an important bird sitehaving 132 species of birds. Gir Forest National Park is best known as being the sole home of the Asiatic Lion. It is located in the Junagadh district of Gujarat, India on 1,412 sq km of land, 258 sq km of which forms the "core".It is a good birding site. Harike sanctuary in Punjab is a Ramsar site at the confluence of Satluj & Beas having 285 sq km of area having records of 368 species of birds. Jaldapara Wildlife Reserve is the home of about60-80 one-horned rhinos, an animal threatened with extinction. Jaldapara with an area of 114 sq km, located in West Bengal,is home to 350 bird species. Kanha National Park is located in Madhya pradesh India and has an area of 940 sq km. Kanha is home to about 300 species of birds. Kaziranga National Park is situated on the south bank of the Brahmaputra river in Assam, India. Stretching over 430 kmē, the park is a vast stretch of elephant grass, marshland and dense tropical broadleaf forest.There are over 450 species of birds in this park known only for rhinos. Little Rann of Kutch is a vast marshy region located in Kutch district in the Indian state of Gujarat. In the monsoon season, the flat desert of salty clay and mudflats, fills with standing waters, interspersed with sandy islets of thorny scrub, breeding grounds for some of the largest flocks of Greater and Lesser flamingoes. It is also a resting site for migratory Siberian birds. Manas National Park, Assam is home to rare species having 391 sq km of area. Nanda devi national park in Uttarakhand is ideal place for himalayan birds. Pench National Park, in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra is an ideal birding site. Periyar National Park, Kerala is home to 320 bird species. Ranthambore National Park, Rajasthan is home to numerous bird species. Rajaji national park,uttarakhnd boasts of large number of bird species. Silent Valley National Park, Kerala is home to 200 species of birds,110 species of butterflies,25 species of reptiles. Sultanpur bird sanctuary,Haryana, holds over 320 bird species. Valley of Flowers National Park- in the upper reaches of Garhwal region of the Indian state of Uttaranchal has 87.50 sq km park lies on the Zanskar mountain range with Gauri Parbat (6719 m) being the highest peak Over 500 species of flowers carpet the ground including orchids, poppies, primulas, calendulas, daisies and anemones and a large variety of birds and butterflies inhabit this heaven on earth.
