ROOPKUND LAKE (CHAMOLI, UTTARAKHAND, INDIA):

Situated at 4450mts this lake is known for HUMAN SKULLS & BONES found in this area.It is located at 5029 meters and is a virgin territory.This lake had witnessed 300-600 human skeletons in 1942 which were discovered to be of 12th century to 15th century. A detailed investigation by scientists proved that the people were died due to sudden hailstorm. Roopkund Lake is the destination of the Raj Jat Yatra.This Yatra is held every 12 years.

The route to the lake is as follows:-

Day 1:- Delhi-Rishikesh(230km)-Mundoli (by bus)

Day 2:- Mundoli-Wan-Bedni Bugyal

Day 3:- Bedni Bugyal-Bhaguwasa

Day 4:- Bhaguwasa-Roopkund

Day 5:- Roopkund- Homekund(4061 mts)-Sutol

Day 6/7:- Sutol-Ghat-Rishikesh (by bus)- Delhi (by bus)
