Sangla valley at 8900 feet is a picturesque valley in the backdrop of gigantic Kinner-Kailash peak (6,050m) towering over it.The valley holds immensely beautiful Meadows, apple and chilgoza orchards, quaint villages,waterfall,trekking routes, winding mountain roads, meandering river, verdant conifer slopes, emerald Rolling,along the Baspa river,a tributary of Satluj river.For six months every year, the Himalayan valleys of Kinnaur and Spiti emerge from a thick cloak of snow.Kinnaur, it is said, fell from the heavens as a gift from the gods.Sangla is situated on the right bank of Baspa river 17 kms. from Karcham. Journey from Karcham onwards is enjoyable and adventurous throughout the valley. The natural scenery all around and the eternal snow view are picturesque and charming. It is also known as Baspa Valley since Baspa river flows through this area. Places are Sapni, Rackchham, Kilba, Kamru Fort which can also be visited.This fort was the place where rajas of Kinnaur were crowned. Now this fort is dedicated to Kamakshi Temple.The Goddess idol was brought from Guwahati.Chitkul (3450 m) is the last village of the valley and beyond lies Tibet.
The Sangla Valley can be visited from April to October. However, temperatures vary with the seasons.May to September have pleasant days and cold nights while April & October have pleasant days.
